Germany to force Twitter and Facebook to delete hate speech

Three months after threatening to change the law so that it can fine social networks for failing to tackle hate speech, Germany’s justice minister has outlined what that law will look like.  Heiko Maas has told reporters that Facebook and Twitter could be fined up to €50 million (£44m) for failing to remove hate speech from their services promptly.  Read more on Wired here >>

Advertisers pull Google advertising budgets in extremist content scandal

The UK government this week led a backlash against Google by pulling all advertising budgets from Google after they found their advertising was being shown against extremist content.  Other large advertisers followed, including Havas, Sky and the Guardian.  Read more on Guardian here >>

Modern Times Group sells Baltic operations to focus on digital
