Publishers are the losers in Snapchat’s new redesign

In the latest iteration of Snapchat’s homepage UX, Snapchat has prioritised Stories over Discover,  relegating navigation of Discover, its publisher content hub,  to below the fold.  Given Discover generates most of its traffic from its homepage this could spell the start of Discover’s death.  Read more on Recode >>

Facebook lets uses cast videos to their TVs

Similar to YouTube’s functionality, Facebook has launched the ability to ‘cast’ videos from its feed onto your TV using all the major streaming services e.g. AppleTV, Google Chromecast.  This opens up even more opportunities for Facebook to scale its ad monetisation proposition.  Read more on Techcrunch >>
